Medical Staff

Dodd Sims, MD

Dr. Sims grew up in Texas.  He received an undergraduate degree in molecular biology from the University of Colorado and graduated from Rush Medical School in Chicago.  He returned to Texas to complete his internal medicine residency.

He has a special interest in health care for the underserved.  He has made a number of trips to Central America as a volunteer doctor and sees patients regularly in a neighborhood clinic in Alexandria.  His work with immigrant patients has allowed him to pursue his passion for languages.   He regularly uses Spanish and French, and is working on several others.  He is an avid runner and has completed three marathons.  He recently started a part-time master’s degree program in theology where he hopes to combine his interests in medicine and ethics.

Dr. Sims is married to a kindergarten teacher and has four children.  The oldest recently graduated from medical school and is completing a pediatric residency.  The youngest just graduated from college.
